Mr. Garcia - Passion, Perseverance, and Global Perspective

Mr. Eduardo Garcia, a dedicated educator at The Village School of Naples, has had a remarkable journey leading him to the classroom. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Latin American Economy, both from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. After completing his studies, Mr. Garcia worked for the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce, where he managed the Latin American market. This experience eventually led him to Nicaragua, where he served as the Dean of the Business School at the country’s largest private university. It was during this time that Mr. Garcia discovered his true calling: teaching. His passion for education ignited, and he has never looked back.

At TVS, Mr. Garcia teaches Spanish, a subject he believes is vital for students in today’s globalized world. He chose this area of education because he understands the importance of learning a second language in the 21st century and strives to make it accessible and engaging for his students. His teaching philosophy is centered on perseverance and growth, encouraging students to continually try and learn new things. In his classroom, Mr. Garcia begins with building a strong vocabulary base and encourages students to practice what they’ve learned daily. He emphasizes that learning a new language is an invaluable skill for their future.

Mr. Garcia’s contributions to the school community extend far beyond the classroom. He has coached middle school cross country, soccer, and tennis, teaching students the fundamentals of sports and essential values like commitment, teamwork, and ethics. Mr. Garcia also leads the Spanish Club, where students gain confidence and a sense of responsibility through participation. These activities help students develop personally and academically, instilling a deeper sense of accountability.

When he’s not teaching, Mr. Garcia values spending time with his family and prioritizes physical exercise. He believes that nurturing his personal interests and well-being helps him grow as an educator, and he is dedicated to instilling those values of balance and personal development in his students. Responsibility and respect are cornerstones of his teaching, and he always emphasizes their importance in the classroom.

One of the most memorable moments in Mr. Garcia’s teaching career came when a student told him that he had changed his life. The student shared how Mr. Garcia’s respect and trust inspired him to believe in his own abilities, something he hadn’t felt before. This moment, and others like it, fuel Mr. Garcia’s passion for teaching and his belief in the power of education to transform lives.

Mr. Garcia sees student success as more than just academic performance. Many of his students come to him during breaks or lunch to talk about their lives, and he always takes the time to listen and offer advice. For him, success is when his students become responsible individuals who care for others and embody empathy, commitment, and responsibility.

Looking to the future, Mr. Garcia is excited about the evolving role of education. He believes that no matter how much technology advances, humanity and care will always be central to learning. He aims to continue growing as a teacher by deepening his understanding of empathy and sharing those values with his students.

For Mr. Eduardo Garcia, teaching is not just a job—it’s a passion. He is committed to making a lasting impact on his students at The Village School, shaping them into empathetic, responsible individuals ready to make a difference in the world.
