My Day at TVS

Our Middle School uses a rotating four-day schedule. Each student has seven periods that consist of the four core classes and three electives. They attend six out of the seven classes daily.


 

8:15 A.M.

Academics

Throughout the first half of the day, Middle-Schoolers engage in core classes, such as Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

9:15 A.M.

Break; Chapel

Students have a brief refresh to break up their morning classes. Students converse with their peers, play games, and can ask teachers questions in this period.


On Wednesday this time is used for Chapel service. The entire Middle School gathers in the North Naples Church (NNC) Sanctuary to listen, sing, think spiritually, and pray.

9:50 A.M.

Private Lesson

Our Performing Arts program offers personalized instruction for our Middle School students. Lessons can be scheduled into their school day as well as before or after. Taught by our expert Performing Arts Department, these lessons cater to individual needs, helping students refine their skills in music and theater.

Key Offerings:
Voice (Classical & Music Theatre), Guitar, Piano, Brass, Woodwinds and string instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and double bass.

Lessons are held on campus by private TVS instructors for an additional fee. 

10:50 A.M.

Advisory

Two days a week, Middle School students meet for an hour with their faculty advisor. Using a mix of both one-on-one and group guidance, they discuss how to thrive in school, time management and how to best apply TVS Christ Skills in everyday life.

11:50 A.M.

Recess; Lunch

Students take time to connect in a playful setting and enjoy the fresh air outside the classroom and out on our expansive campus lawns.

At 12:05 students break from learning and enjoy interacting with each other during lunchtime. All grades gather to enjoy Chef Amos’s delicious hot lunches. A nutritious salad bar is also always available, along with some healthy quick-take options. Some student favorites include orange chicken with lo mein, garlic bread, grab-and-go wraps, Philly cheese steak, and the LaCroix selection.

12:35 P.M.

Academics Continue

Depending on the student’s interest they have many elective courses to choose from. All students are required to take a World Language class throughout their time in Middle School. They start with an introduction in 6th grade that focuses on art, history, and culture of Spanish speaking countries. They take a trimester of Spanish language in 7th grade, and 8th graders take Spanish 1 that serves as a high school credit.

Performing Arts Class

Students experience a comprehensive and enriching performing arts curriculum that empowers individuals to explore, express, and excel in their artistic journeys. A variety of performing arts classes are available; Beginner’s Theater, Advanced Theater, Choir, Set Design, and Staging and Acting have all been popular choices. In class they will rehearse for various shows throughout the year. Some of which include: 

  • Fall Musical revue
  • Veterans Day Ceremony
  • Christmas Concert
  • Grandparents Day
  • Spring Musical

2:35 P.M.

Electives; or Athletics

During the last block of the school day, Middle-School students spend their time in activities such as Coding and Personal Finance or in clubs such as Stop-motion Animation and Current Events. Elective selections change on a trimester schedule. 

Middle School Athletics give students the opportunity to experience both team sports and a variety of other activities that foster a foundation for lifelong wellness. They can choose from multiple different individual and team sports including flag football, cross-country, volleyball, basketball, soccer, golf, baseball, lacrosse, track and field and swimming. Each sport is managed by our talented coaches who dedicate many hours to student athlete practice and playing time.Students participating in certain sports are often playing in away games during this block.

Evening

Performance

After much preparation, our Middle School performers take to the stage so that they may showcase their hard work and beautiful results with their peers, families and friends. Performances such as a musical or play, the choral concert, or a recital typically begin around 5:00-5:30 p.m., and admission is free. All Village School families and friends are encouraged to attend!
